Assignment 2

I had so much fun this week.  I am finding my lost love for photography!  I have continued on with last week's lesson and continued to shoot many single theme pictures of flowers (from the Easter Bouquet I received) and my most exciting shot was a shot of a sunset with rays I got through the trees.   It was exciting as we have not seen the sun shine for so long around here, that it was unbelievable to even have a sunset!!  The visual of squinting our eyes (closing the opening to see in the distance)  was the key to really getting aperture...I would be curious to hear other students "oh, I get it now" moments.

This is my favoirite - Frozen action...my son was jumping off of a swing (yes, I realize he is a bit big for this, but he sure impressed his nephews!!)  The Shutter speed was set at 1/1250, the fstop was at 4.00 and the ISO was at 100.

Implied Action  - If I could post more than one photo for each category, I would have posted some of the Frozen actions photos I got of my grandson's chasing bubbles, but instead I chose this one of the implied action of the bubbles moving through the air.  My shutter speed was set to 1/50, my fstop at 19.0 and my ISO at 100.

Implied Action

This is my attempt at panning.  Bright sunny day...just as Brooke warned us against.  I am anxious to go out again and keep trying...perhaps when the sun gets a bit lower in the sky.  I realize my subject, Caleb, should have been more in focus.  I wore the poor child out in the attempt!  Shutter speed was at 1/30, fstop at 18.0 and ISO at 160.

Assignment 1

This first Series is to represent our story telling assignment.  Our city is going through a flood, and Road Closures are the norm around here!

Fstop 22 SS 100 ISO 160 50mm prime lens
 Fstop 8 SS 640 ISO 160
 Fstop 2.2 SS 8000 ISO 160

This is what I did for my who cares assignment - photos of my grandson Caleb
fstop 2.2 SS 80 ISO 400 50mm lens

 fstop 8 SS 6 ISO 400 50mm lens
 fstop 16 SS 8 ISO 2500 50mm lens
Singular Theme photos

 fstop 22 SS 250 ISO 800 100mm lens
 fstop 8 SS 1000 ISO 400 100 mm lens
fstop 2.8 SS 8000 ISO 200 100mm lens

I think I struggle most with focus.  I take many out of focus photos.  My second challenge in manual is the indoor shot.  Living in ND,  we are inside a lot!  I am not sure I get the metering,  as many of my photos have a golden hue.  This is really interesting and trying not to get discouraged!
